Win or Lose, Patches for You!

Hi Friends,

So my newest TV obsessions is obviously Making It on NBC. It’s a reality TV competition show about crafting and creating. Why didn’t anyone think of putting this on TV sooner?! Like seriously, who doesn’t love to see people creating amazing, random, cute things! I know I do! It’s hosted by Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman, who are truly hilarious. They are constantly making craft puns, which are so funny they have me cracking up on my sofa the whole episode. It started with 8 Makers (Contestants) and now they are down to 3 with only one episode left. It’s anyone game at this point, they are all so talented and amazing… #lifegoals! During each episode they each compete in a Faster Craft challenge which is a short challenge and then a Master Craft Challenge which takes much longer and is more elaborate and grand. There is a winner for each challenge and the prize for the challenges are super cute patches that the winner can put on their, equally as cute, denim apron. I LOVE that idea! There is no better award, than patches, to give to a maker. So I decided to make my own apron inspired by the show, with patches on it and everything! I wear it around all the time crafting and of course, when I watch the show!

What you will need:

  • Denim Apron ( I got mine for $13 on amazon)
  • Inkjet Printer
  • Cricut or scissors
  • Cricut Design Space
  • Printable fusible fabric
  • Free Patch Template
  • Iron or heat Press

Step One

Print the “Patches” on fusible fabric using the Free Patch Template.  If you don’t have a Cricut machine, don’t worry. You can still print the “patches” with design space and just use scissors to cut them out. I used June Tailor fusible fabric that I got at Joann. If you have another printable Iron on or something else you like better feel free to use that!

Step Two

Cut the “patches” out using Cricut Machine or just use scissors if you have a Cricut!

Step Three

Play around with the placement of patches on your apron. You might like them best all in one place or spread out all over like polka dots! Make sure they are placed where you like them best!

Step Four

Iron on the “patches” to your apron. I used my Cricut easy press set on 340 degrees for 30 seconds. If you have a regular iron, set it to Cotton and hold it on for 15-20 seconds then move the iron around tho make sure all the “patches” are fused to the apron.

That’s it! Quick and easy and so cute! I hope you have a crafty time wearing this apron! I know I will! Don’t forget to tune into Making it on NBC. It’s seriously so funny! Next week is the finale! Until next time……..
