DIY Fall Mickey Wreath!

Hi Friends,

I can’t believe September is more than half over! Fall is literally just a few days away! Where has this year gone! Everything about fall is so gorgeous, it seems like the whole world goes into this beautiful amber haze, like its golden hour for an entire season! Plus it leads up to winter and Christmas which is the greatest time of the year, sooooo whats not to love! We already decorated our entire house for fall and Halloween, we are clearly ready for the season. Being the craft-a-holic I am, obviously I had to DIY some new Decorations!

As you know Disneyland is my favorite place in the whole world and I love to make things inspired by the decor they have at the park. With that being said, it was time to make a wreath like the ones they have hanging on every lamppost on main street during the Halloween/fall season! So of course a trip to Michael’s (the best craft store ever) was in order.  Everything I got was already on sale, so no coupon this time but still a great deal! Everything was at least 50% off if not 60% off. I hope you all enjoy this wreath. It’s so cute and fun and everyone will love it when they come visit you!

Supplies needed:

  • 1-Fake pumpkin medium-sized
  • Fall leaf picks or garland
  • Orange and green acrylic craft paint
  • Hot glue gun
  • 2-Smooth Styrofoam half balls
  • 1-18 Inch vine wreath (I used orange but you can use any color that suits your style)
  • X-acto knife
  • Black Vinyl or Black Paint
  • Mickey Face Stencil

Step One

Using your X-acto knife cut the fake pumpkin down the middle. Most fake pumpkins will have a seam all the way around the center that you can use as a cut line.

Step Two

Take one side of the pumpkin you just cut and the two Styrofoam halves and paint them orange. You have to paint the pumpkin as well because you want your pumpkin and Styrofoam halves to be the same color. I did about 5 coats on the pumpkin and only two on the Styrofoam halves. Also paint the stem of the pumpkin green. I only did one coat of green on the stem.

Step Three

Take your fall picks or your fall garland and position it onto your vine wreath the way you want it. I used a garland, because I found it cheaper and I liked all the colors and the sparkly leaves, and I just pulled the leaves off the garland and placed them on the wreath. After you’re happy with the position, use hot glue and glue them into place.

Step Four

Position your Styrofoam halves on the pumpkin on either side of the stem. Then you can cut rounded indention’s in the bottom of both halves using an X-acto knife or scissors. After you have the halves cut you can use hot glue and glue them onto your pumpkin.

Step Five

Cut out the Mickey face stencil using a cutting machine and black vinyl and use transfer tape to put it on your pumpkin. Or you can just print on paper using design space and trace it onto your pumpkin and use black paint to paint it onto your pumpkin.

Step Six

Now all you have to do is position your Mickey Pumpkin in the center of the wreath and hot glue him in place.  It took me a minute to get him where I wanted him so play around with it for a minute!

Voila! You’re done and have a cute copycat Disney Halloween/Fall Wreath! I love mine and I can’t wait for everyone to see it! Enjoy your fun fall project! Until next time……..
