DIY Valentine’s Day Shirts!

Hi Friends,

It’s almost Valentine’s Day! I can’t believe how fast this year is going already. However I’m so excited for Valentine’s Day! It’s my second favorite holiday and it usually helps to get me out of my after Christmas blues! Everything is cute and pink with hearts. I have a love for anything pink and anything with hearts, you guys should totally know that about me already.

I love a good themed outfit, for Christmas time I wear nothing but Christmas outfits for the whole season (Nov 1- Dec 31). At Halloween I like to wear Halloween themed clothes through out October and why should Valentine’s Day be any different! However it’s not easy to find a good themed shirt for Valentine’s Day so I like to make one every year. This year I made two, a Disney one (Because everyone can use a little Disney in their lives at all times) and a non Disney one ( because I realize not everyone is a Disney-aholic like me).  I made these shirts with my Cricut Maker but if you don’t have one, don’t worry about it. You can always print out the design, using Cricut Design Space, on printable iron on transfers. I usually stock up on blank T-shirt’s at Old Navy and Target because they have amazing clearance sales a couple of times a year and I can get a t shirt for like $2. So don’t be afraid to dig around to find a good deal or use a t-shirt you already have! I also love to use Siser heat transfer vinyl for my t shirts. I like it better than the Cricut brand because you can use coupons at Michaels on it so it makes it way cheaper and as you know I love a good sale!

What you need:

  • Cricut machine or printer
  • Cricut Design Space
  • Disney Template Cricut / Printable– Chocolate Template Cricut / Printable
  • If using a printer- printable iron on transfer
  • If using a Cricut- vinyl in the colors of your choice ( I will list the colors I used at the end)
  • Cotton t-shirt
  • Iron or Cricut Easy Press
  • Parchment Paper
  • Scissors
  • weeding tool or tweezers

  6. Once cooled place the black heart outlines on top of colored hearts
  7. Repeat steps 4 and 5
  8. Now place the Mickey heads where you want them
  9. Repeat steps 4 and 5 again.

*I used Siser Easy Weed HTV in the colors, Lemon Yellow, Light Pink, Lilac, Light Blue, Mint, coral and black. All purchased from Michaels and my Cricut Easy Press heated to 315 degrees

  3. Cut out all the images. (Feel free to skip the Mickey heads if you don’t want to cut them all out!)

  13. Place the quote at the bottom and repeat steps 4 and 5
  14. Repeat with arrow and heart on the from of the shirt.
  15. Turn Shirt inside out and iron the back of the images for 15 seconds

*I used Siser Easy Weed HTV in the colors, Black, White, Red, and Light Pink which I purchased at Michaels and Chocolate Brown which I purchased from Amazon. Also I used my Cricut Easy Press Heated to 315 degrees.

If Printing out-

*you won’t be able to use a red t-shirt if printing out because you cant print out white lettering so I had to Change it to red. I would suggest a white t-shirt since its red lettering.

  1. Open Printable Chocolate shirt template in Cricut design space  click continue, then click send to printer, choose the printer you want to send it to and make sure you unchecked add bleed. You don’t want the extra rim if you’re not cutting on your Cricut.
  2. Click print (make sure you read the instructions on the printable iron transfers so you know which way to put the paper in your printer)
  3. Cut out all the images. (the words might feel tedious so you can just cut around the phrases but you will have the white rims)
  4. Iron on your images to the shirt following instructions on the packaging (they are all different)

This is a super easy tutorial however a little time consuming. I totally think it was worth the work! You know I love to make a good t-shirt, I find it relaxing. Plus they are unique, not everyone has them! I hope you like the shirts. Which one do you like better? If you make them be sure to tag me on Instagram so I can see how you’re wearing them! Until next time………
